Trail access open for free at Wesselman Woods Nature Preserve

EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) - Wesselman Woods reopened its nature trails to the public on Thursday morning.

The trail will be open every day from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Admission fees will be waived for the next few weeks.

Officials say they will plan to reevaluate every week on whether to keep the park open based on how many people use the trail.

Wesselman Woods Executive Director Robin Johnston wants visitors to practice social distancing and stay at least six feet away from one another.

Officials ask those who are in the high-risk population or feeling sick to stay home

The Nature Center, Nature PlayScape, restrooms, and Recycling Center will remain closed.
