ILLINOIS (WFIE) - State officials in Illinois also held their daily briefing on Sunday, announcing 296 new cases of coronavirus in the state, including one infant.

According to Illinois’ coronavirus website, the state has 1049 confirmed positive cases and nine coronavirus related deaths.

During the conference, Governor JB Pritzker highlighted many organizations that are donating personal protective equipment to medical workers.

“To all these organizations, please know that you are truly providing life-saving equipment to our healthcare workers, and I thank you for that," Governor Pritzker said.

If you would like to donate, you can email PPE.donations@illinois.gov.

Pritzker pleaded Saturday for retired health care workers, including doctors, nurses and physicians assistants, to “come back and join the fight against COVID-19″ hours before the state entered his “stay-at-home” order that will continue through April 7.
