Grayville Police looking for man after two people stabbed

GRAYVILLE, IL (WFIE) - Grayville Police say the man wanted for stabbing two people has been caught.

They say Sanjay J. Lewis was spotted at the west wood campgrounds Friday, then took off to a truck stop, then a hotel, then to Interstate 64 where police arrested him.

He’s being held on a $100,000 dollar cash bond.

Earlier Friday, a $950 reward was announced for information leading to Lewis’ arrest.

Grayville Police had been looking for him since Tuesday after two women were found stabbed.

It happened around 1:20 a.m. in the 100 block of South Main Street in Grayville.

Police say one of the women was trying to help her friend who was being stabbed by Lewis.

They tell us one victim is in critical condition at an Evansville hospital, and the other was treated and released.

Police say Lewis has a criminal history and is on parole for aggravated kidnapping.
