Crews respond to Evansville apartment complex fire

EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) - Crews responded to fire in Evansville.

The fire broke out just after 9:30 Thursday morning at a home in the Buena Vista apartment complex.

Firefighters say they were able to get the fire out, but attached apartments sustained smoke and water damaged.

“Initially it appeared that it was going to be something that was going to be fairly on going," said District Chief Mike Larson. "They got inside and they put the fire out very quickly and limited the damage-- fire damage to the apartment it self, the apartment of origin and just basically some smoke damage and water adjoining apartments. Hats off to the crew for making an aggressive interior attack.”

No serious injuries were reported.

The person who lives in the apartment where the fire started was sent to the hospital to get checked out.
