EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) - Officials with Evansville Vanderburgh School Corporation made an exciting announcement about a partnership that will help further education for children of all backgrounds.
EVSC is partnering with Equal Opportunity Schools. This partnership allows high schools in the district the opportunity to expand student access to advanced level courses.
Through this partnership, EVSC will be able to give low income and students of color the resources they need to succeed in AP classes in hopes of furthering their education and careers after high school.
“We’ve actually been able to reach out to these students, identify the ones that are really interested in and have the desire to be in an AP class and encourage them to take an AP class that maybe they’ve never done and maybe never thought of,” says Harrison High School Principal Jeff Dierlam.
This is all thanks to local donors and national funding and it will be implemented in EVSC’s five traditional high schools.
