Crash involving semi blocks SB I-69 in Gibson Co.
GIBSON CO., Ind. (WFIE) - Drivers across the Tri-State faced slick roads on Tuesday.
In Gibson County, a crash involving a semi shut down a section of I-69 for several hours.
We’re told the truck jackknifed after hitting a slick spot around 8:15 a.m. and crashed into the guard rail.
State police say the driver is okay and nobody else was hurt during the crash.
Oakland City Police Chief Tim Gaines says his department saw a lot of slide-offs Tuesday morning and some people weren’t ready for the wintry weather.
“I think this caught everybody by surprise," Chief Gaines said. "I don’t think they were really expecting what we got, and with the temperatures that we’ve had, I don’t think anyone thought it was going to be cold enough to freeze like it did.”
The interstate reopened around 11 a.m.
