HENDERSON CO., Ky. (WFIE) - Henderson County schools are stepping up security by installing new vestibule entrances.
They tell us this is a part of their safe schools initiative.
Leaders say these entrances will soon be installed in all eight schools district-wide. The high school and a few others already have them.
Visitors can get into the vestibule, but they have to sign-in before they can enter the school through the second set of doors.
“We can buzz them into the school, find out a little bit more about what they want and need," explains Henderson County School’s Steve Steiner. "And then allow them to progress further, or to just say “no, this is as far as you need to go. There is a spot where people can’t get any further than if we don’t allow them to.”
Every vestibule should be installed by Christmas break.
