DAVIESS CO., Ky. (WFIE) - A traffic alert for drivers in Daviess County.

Dispatch said there was a wreck involving a semi and a train at Griffith Station Rd. and Wimsatt Road, near Stanley in the western part of the county.

According to Daviess County Sheriff’s Office, the driver of the semi, 46-year-old John Ellington, of Warren, Ohio, was driving on Wimsatt Road when the semi’s landing gear got lodged on the railroad track as it crossed through the intersection.

Ellington was not hurt because he was able to get out of the semi before the train hit it.

Sheriff’s deputies said the train was carrying automobiles and the semi-truck was empty. The truck was split in half, but the train is only facing minor damages to the outside.

However, the accident caused road closures, and until CSX, KSP and the Daviess County Sheriff’s Office, complete their investigation, the train will stay put.

Highway 60 W is back open, however, Wimsatt Road and Griffith Station Road is still closed.

Avoid the area if you can.
