Boil advisory lifted after water main break in Evansville

Boil advisory issued after water main break in Evansville

EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) - Red Bank Road is closed between Hogue Road and University Drive due to Wednesday’s a water main break.

Water officials say they have lifted the previously boil advisory for the following areas:

Everything in the area north of the Ohio River, south of Mill Road, west of St. Joe Avenue and east of the Posey County Line.

Many west siders heading to the University Shopping Center for lunch had to quickly change plans when the realized most of the businesses were closed.

“We always go here and then we found out it was a water main leak, so kind of upset,” says Ella Brizendine, Azzip Pizza customer.

Brizendine came from Indianapolis to visit her sister, she says Azzip Pizza is her favorite place to eat here and she’s not alone.

People got out of their cars ready for pizza, but were turned away due to a water line break.

“Mainly for health code reasons, we don’t have any operating bathrooms so we obviously can’t serve guests in a healthy and safe environment,” explains Azzip Pizza shift leader Randall Dousan.

The water main break on North Red Bank Road took crews hours to get everything under control.

This break put a damper on business for not only restaurants, but hair salons, and those that live in the area.

Dousan tells us this is not the first time a water break has put a pause on their day.

“I’ve been here for about two years now, I would say it’s only happened about three or four times”

While closed, the Azzip team used the free time to clean equipment and the restaurant so that when the time came they’d be ready to serve.

As for Brizendine and her sister they had to put their Azzip plans on hold.

The area was put under the advisory around 4 p.m. Wednesday.

The boil advisory was lifted around 7:45 a.m. Saturday.
