OWENSBORO, Ky. (WFIE) - A teen is facing several charges in a string of arsons in Daviess County.
Deputies say Daviess County High School’s resource officer found a fire set in the boy’s bathroom Thursday.
That investigation led to the 14-year-old boy.
He’s facing an arson charge for that incident, plus three more for other investigations on Highway 764 since mid-august.
Once the teen was brought in for questioning, detectives noticed that he lives close to where the three arsons that happened on Highway 764.
The teen was released to his parents and will be in juvenile court.
Detectives told 14 News that the teen actually knew the neighbors whose house he sat on fire.
“But according to him, he had no problem with them and in talking with those neighbors, they had no problem with him," Major Bill Thompson said. "So we are aware of on both sides, just no motive, no rhyme or reason why he did such.”
No one was hurt in the fires.
Daviess County School Officials released a statement on Friday saying that there were no injuries or damage at the high school and that the school worked with the Sheriff’s Office to identify the student.
