2 hospitalized after Owensboro shooting

OWENSBORO, Ky. (WFIE) - Two people were taken to the hospital after a shooting in Owensboro.

It happened Wednesday shortly before 10 a.m. in the 2600 block of West Victory Court.

Police tell us the homeowner, 76-year old Eugene Evans was tied up and assaulted by 51-year old Brian Scott Bailey. During the altercation, police say Bailey was shot.

Bailey was treated at the hospital and then arrested. The homeowner is believed to have life-threatening injuries.

“If we can talk to those two individuals, hopefully they’ll be able to shed a lot of light as to exactly occurred and what led up to it,” explained OPD Officer Andrew Boggess. “Through the course of the investigation, we’re talking to neighbors to see if they may have seen or heard anything or may have some idea what’s going on.”

According to police, the motive is unclear right now.

“I’m [Officer Boggess] not aware of any kind of substances or anything in the house that would have been the cause for this," explained Officer Boggess. "It’s still very early. There may be additional charges, that kind of thing. At this point we’re faily confident that they were the only two people in the residence at the time.”
