BOONVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) - A Statewide Silver Alert has been declared.
The Boonville Police Department is investigating the disappearance of Donna Gail Hatfield, a 72-year-old white female, 5 feet 4 inches tall, 125 pounds, with grayish brown hair and hazel eyes.
Her family says you may also recognize her by the name of Donna Rainey.
14 News sent you a push alert as soon as Indiana State Police put out the silver alert.
Just a few hours later, we sat down with Donna's daughter. She's one of three siblings.
She tells us she just found out earlier this week that her mom is missing. The last time they believe someone saw her was more than 10-weeks-ago.
“I don’t know where she is,” daughter Shannon Martin said.
Indiana State Police issued the silver alert for Hatfield on Wednesday afternoon.
“It’s awful, I mean, I don’t know,” Martin added. “Your emotions are just everywhere. you don’t have time to even think.”
Martin describes her mother as friendly, kind-hearted and often seen with a smile on her face.
“I think she’d talk to anybody."
We’re learning Hatfield suffered from Alzheimer’s and enjoyed taking walks. Police say she has wandered off in the past but was always later found in the immediate area.
“The police officers may bring her back, or that kind of thing, so they knew her,” Martin recalled.
Martin tells us she last spoke to her mother in the spring.
“I could tell that she was getting worse, just with her memory and repeating things and talking to my brother he said she was getting worse not wanting to eat,” Martin explained.
Donna lives with her son in Boonville, according to Martin, and Donna’s ex-husband believes it was the morning of June 13th when he last saw her.
“That’s what we’re thinking,” Martin calculated. “I’m concerned because his health isn’t that good and I don’t know for sure if his memory is correct to know that for sure. But he said that he saw my brother and mom at their house that day. He goes to Boonville for doctors’ appointments.”
Our staff asked police if they believe Donna wandered off or if they think someone is responsible. They said either is a possibility and added they hope she is okay.
She is believed to be in extreme danger and may require medical assistance.
