Police looking for suspect after apartment shooting

EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) - Evansville Police are investigating a shooting at an apartment complex.

Police were called to Woodland Park Apartments in the 2700 block of Lodge Avenue around 8:30 p.m. Wednesday.

EPD says one person was taken to the hospital with a life-threatening injury because of a gunshot wound. They now say the victim, Steven Minton, 31-years-old, had surgery and is expected to survive.

Police say they don’t have much suspect information.

According to officers, Minton was unable to give them any information about the suspect. Police did speak with one witness, who heard the gunshot and saw a person in dark clothing running away, but as for now no suspects have been identified.

“That apartment complex, unfortunately, is not a stranger to criminal activity and we have long encouraged the residents that live down there to call us if they suspect there is any criminal activity going on," explained EPD Sgt. Jason Cullum. "We hope once his medical condition stabilizes a little bit more that we’ll be able to speak with him again and hopefully get more information on what was going on prior to the shooting.”
