Coroner’s Office releases name of victim in fatal I-64 crash

VANDERBURGH CO., Ind. (WFIE) - A spokesperson for the Vanderburgh County Coroner’s Office says 51-year-old Robbie Lee Smith was the victim in Friday night’s deadly Interstate 64 Crash.

Smith died from multiple blunt force trauma, according to the Coroner’s Office.

The Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Office says one person was killed in a crash late Friday on Interstate 64.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, the wreck happened in the westbound lanes near the 22 mile-marker. Deputies arrived to the scene where they found a person who appeared to have been ejected from the vehicle.

The Sheriff’s Office says that person was pronounced dead at the scene by the coroner.

Shortly before the wreck, the Sheriff’s Office says a 911 call reported a black Ford F-150 swerving from lane to lane on I-64.

Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Office says this crash remains under investigation and the identity of the person killed will be released later by the coroner’s office.

According to the VCSO, deputies found a person, who appeared to have been ejected from the truck as it rolled over.
