EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) - In commemoration of D-Day, the LST 325 has been temporarily in front of Tropicana all weekend.
They have been giving free tours to the public.
Hundreds have already come down to walk around the World War II ship.
The LST is scheduled to move to his location permanently around this time next year.
Crew members say that weekends like this are a great way to show off the history of the ship to many people who normally don’t get to see it.
“These are free tours. We’re not really gaining anything from this, but we’re letting everybody come and see the ship. You know maybe they’ll go home and tell their friends about it. Then there’s been several guys that will come through and say ‘My uncle or my grandfather was on a ship,’” said LST 325 Captain Bob Kubota.
The LST will be open Sunday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
