EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) - Some University of Evansville students are helping to save the monarch butterfly population.

Recent gradute Anna Jean Stratman is leading the project. Her team has been hard at work, growing milkweed in their campus garden.

Anna said the milkweed is essential for young monarch caterpillars to survive.

The project has been ongoing for the last couple years. Anna told us it has been a learning process with community involvement.

Anna was able to develop her own community-impact class through UE’s Change Lab Program.
