POSEY CO., Ind. (WFIE) - Vivian Gates is begging the Indiana Department of Transportation to cut a tree down on her property because she is worried it is putting other people’s safety at risk.
Vivian has lived off Highway 66 in Wadesville for 30-years. Over the last few years, she has noticed a tree rotting. Her concern is that the tree would fall and potentially cause a deadly wreck.
INDOT told us that the Indiana Brown Bat is an endangered bat and they are usually attracted to dead rotting trees, which is why they have the restriction and can’t remove the tree.
According to INDOT, the tree is on contract to be removed when that restriction is up this fall.
