EVANSVILLE, IN (WFIE) - The contract between Alcoa and the United Steelworkers Union is set to expire at 12 a.m. Thursday.
We reported on May 8, some Alcoa workers have been rallying for a fair contract. The company and the union have presented their proposals, but no contracts have been agreed upon since talks began on May 2.
Nearly 1,700 workers at five Alcoa plants across the country will be affected, including the those at the Warrick County plant.
One of the issues with contract talks have been vacation one day at a time.
We have reached out to the president of the United Steel Workers Local 104, but have not heard back.
