VA Health Care Center to host ‘VA2K Walk and Roll'

Evansville, Ind. (WFIE) - Thursday, May 16, you’ll have the chance to help some homeless veterans and get some exercise at the same time.

The “VA2K” is Thursday from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. at the VA Health Care Center in Evansville.

The walk is about three laps around the parking lot.

They’re encouraging people to come out during their lunch breaks to participate. You can even form a team with co-workers.

“We try and do that throughout the year with several organizations bringing donations and just a smile on their face, saying here’s a box of that can really help out. Especially being a dietitian, I love being able to add in some healthy items and hopefully this year we can add in some fresher produce," said Beth Blair, VA Registered Dietitian.

Here’s a list of goods you can donate at the event:

  • Bath towels
  • Wash cloths
  • Brooms
  • New clothing
  • Canned food
  • Donations

It’s no cost to get in and donations are accepted year around.
