CHANDLER, IN (WFIE) - Many people around Chandler were not sure if the speedpark would have an opening day this year. But now there is a whole summer scheduled at the track.
Owner Reno Fontana says he could not believe the crowd on opening day last Friday and the visitors surely got their money’s worth. But it just marks the beginning of what he calls an exciting summer planned for Chandler Movieland Speedpark.
Fontana tells 14 News that in June, he plans to have the oval track open for go-kart and motorcycle racing on Saturdays. He also plans to open up the drag strip for organized racing for the first time in 2 years.
“A lot of excitement, a lot of interest from sponsors. I couldn’t be more happy. It is really coming together. Everything that I hoped would come to pass is coming to pass. So it is just nothing but good on the calendar right now,” said Fontana.
Fontana says the drag strip racing event will be held on June 15th, and he expects it to be one of their biggest events of the season.
