Testimony underway for Dubois Co. man accused of stabbing, killing girl

Dubois Co., Ind. (WFIE) - Testimony started Tuesday in the trial of the man accused of stabbing a woman earlier this year.

Kyle Schneider, 27, is accused of stabbing 23-year-old Chloie Lubbenhusen in January in a home near St. Anthony. Police say a neighbor called 911 and told dispatchers that Lubbehusen was naked and bleeding on the front porch of the home.

She died after being taken to the hospital.

Police say they found Schneider hiding in a box in the neighbor’s garage.

On Thursday, the state called ISP Detective Brock Werne to the stand. He discussed the evidence that he collected as the lead investigator in this case.

The state then called on Brandon Karnes, who shared a cell block with Schneider back in January.

Karnes testified that Schneider had told him about how he killed Lubbehusen, and how he planned to blame her death on the next-door neighbor.

Testimony will continue Friday at 8:30 a.m.
