Princeton Community High School has new sister city

PRINCETON, Ind. (WFIE) - Princeton Community High School has a new sister city in Japan.

A delegation from Tahara City was in town for the official signing. They’ll be partnering with Fukue High School.

The deal is expected to bring Japanese students to Princeton in 2020 and also have Princeton students and staff travel to Japan.

North Gibson School Superintendent Brian Harmon says a lot can be learned from both cultures.

“I think our goal is to take the best of what we do and what we think we’re good at and be able to try to provide them with some ideas for their educational system and the reciprocal of that as well. What are the things they do that could be advantageous to us to implement in our classrooms here," said Harmon.

The Mayor of Tahara City even presented a gift as a way of showing thanks for the partnership.
