CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) - Cincinnati Reds confirmed Friday morning they’ve called up their top prospect Nick Senzel.
FOX19 NOW reported Wednesday Senzel was informed he’s getting called up to the big leagues, according to a report by Redsminorleagues.com.
The Reds have been grooming Senzel to play center field since spring training.
He didn’t make the 25-man roster coming out of spring and suffered a setback with an ankle injury, but since returning from injury, he’s played eight games in the outfield for the Reds Triple-A affiliate in Louisville with a .257 batting average, a home run and 2 RBI.
Earlier this week, MLB Network reported that Senzel could make his MLB debut on Friday when the Reds return home to host the San Francisco Giants.
The Reds (12-17) wrap-up a four-game series in New York with a game on Wednesday night at 7 p.m. and a game on Thursday at 12:10 p.m.
