SANTA CLAUS, IN (WFIE) - Holiday World opens for the summer this Saturday. Park Officials say they’ve made some big improvements, but the biggest is the new Santa’s Merry Marketplace.
The newly renovated and expanded Kringle Kafe has a new name, a new look, new food options, while still retaining its roots.
“Opening up on Saturday is going to be an incredible feeling,” said fourth generation Holiday World Owner Lauren Crosby. “We have an expanded ice cream store that’s just amazing. More candy and fudge than ever before and I mean seating. Just seating upon seating and obviously Christmas decorations everywhere you turn.”
One of the biggest changes, is just how big the new building is. Offering much more seating, and an expanded menu including five serving stations and 110 new food items throughout the park.
“Whenever you walk in you’re going to be able to see all the way across to the very end, which you were not able to do before, so you’re going walk in and just be like ‘where did this space come from,’" Crosby explains.
To Crosby, the new building serves almost as a reflection of the park’s history. From its days as Santa Claus Land to this new chapter being written this weekend.
“My great great grandfather built the original structure that we renovated and then my father was responsible for the other addition to this building, which we also renovated, so now it’s kind of my generation’s turn to put our stamp on it," said Crosby.
Santa’s Merry Marketplace will open up with the park for the first time Saturday May 4, when Holiday World celebrates its opening day. Splashin’ Safari will open on May 11.
