Jefferson Elementary’s 3rd graders help raise money for new playground

HENDERSON, KY (WFIE) - A group of third graders from Jefferson Elementary in Henderson is doing their part to get a new playground.

Mrs. Rath’s class is helping raise money for that playground.

In the next couple of years, Jefferson will have a new school, however, the funds for that school can’t go towards playground equipment.

Students surveyed the school on what they would to see during recess.

“They’ve been so excited and so passionate cause it’s something they would benefit directly from and they have a lot of information about as elementary school kids, they’ve really been advocating for students and what students would want,” said Lori Rath, third-grade teacher.

The projected cost for the playground is $40,000.
