Two men killed in Henderson plane crash

HENDERSON CO., KY (WFIE) - The Henderson County coroner says two men are dead after a plane crash in Henderson County.

Dispatch says the plane crashed sometime overnight, but the exact time is not yet known, near the Henderson City-County Airport on Hwy 136. According to KSP, troopers were called a few minutes after 7:30 a.m. to investigate the wreck after an airport worker discovered the wreckage.

14 News is learning radio traffic feeds to Evansville once their office closes for the evening.

“The tower in Evansville, we’ve been informed, shuts down at 11 at night. After that, everything get referred to Indianapolis. People in Indianapolis are checking back on recording to see if they have anything. Right now they’ve not been able to report if there is a flight plan,” Henderson Co. Coroner Bruce Farmer explained.

The coroner says the men were found dead in the plane. They have not yet been identified, but the coroner says the plane and the men were not from the Tri-State area.

“What are the contributing factors to this wreck? Were there intoxicants involved? Anything else weather related? Or perhaps just human error," KSP Trooper Corey King explains. "That’s some of the things we would normally establish in vehicle wrecks so essentially there’s no difference in an airline crash as well.”

No other details are available right now.
