LOS ANGELES (WFIE) - It has been 20 years since the unimaginable happened during the third inning of a game between the St. Louis Cardinals and the Los Angeles Dodgers.
The Cards’ cleanup hitter, Fernando Tatis stepped up to the plate with the bases loaded and his team trailing. Tatis, who finished his career with 113 home runs, turned on the Chan Ho Park pitch and sent it into the stands for a grand slam.
This is where it gets crazy though.
Not only did Tatis get another at bat in the third, but the bases were loaded again and Park was still on the mound. Tatis once again delivered; forever etching his name in baseball history.
To celebrate the 20th anniversary, Tatis will be back in St. Louis on Tuesday when the Cardinals take on NL Central rival, Milwaukee Brewers.
