Owensboro agrees to buy Gabe’s Tower, plans to demolish it

OWENSBORO, KY (WFIE) - After years of sitting empty, Gabe’s Tower could finally be coming down.

City manager Nate Pagan confirms Owensboro has signed an agreement to buy the building for $360,000.

The agreements says owner Robert Zimmerman must provide a clean title, and drop the lawsuits he has filed against the city and other parties related to the tower.

Earlier this month, the Mayor told 14 News they would plan to demo the building and use the property for public transportation.

The city commission will need to approve the purchase before it’s finalized
