EVANSVILLE, IN (WFIE) - Construction is closer to beginning for the new Deaconess Aquatic Center in Garvin Park.
On Wednesday, architects on the project revealed some of the final plans to the parks board. Haefer Design is working on the final touches before starting construction, which they hope to start by summer.
The plans include include a 50 meter pool for competitive swimming, a leisure pool inside, outdoor pool, and a splash pad. But what we could really see from these renderings was the massive two story glass wall.
Designers say this will make the center that much more unique.
“We believe that the glass will allow us to have a great view of the park itself, the fountain and the trees beyond and then at night it will allow that end of the building to glow and those individuals in the park will be able to see in and see all the activity that’s going on,” explains Haefer President Jeff Justice.
Parking plans are still in the works.
We will keep you updated on what planners decide to do with that.
