HENDERSON, KY (WFIE) - Part of Henderson is under a boil advisory after a major water main break near the intersection of South Green Street and Vine Street.
We’re told the leak is on a 20″ water main that serves large areas of Henderson, including the East End, Corporate Park, Sand Lane, and areas to the south and east of downtown.
The leak has been completely isolated and pressure is being restored in the water system.
Due to a drop of pressure in some areas, officials are issuing a boil advisory for the area from Clay Street to Drury Lane and from the Ohio River to KY-2084 (Old Highway 41 South).
Other affected areas included:
- Henderson Corporate Park to Commonwealth Drive
- South Main Street to Drury Lane to Clay Street
- Clay Street to Atkinson Street to Sand Lane to Green Street
- Canoe Creek Subdivision
- Lakeland Subdivision
- Fair Acres Apartments
- Chapelwood Apartments
- Burchwood Subdivision
- Woodland Apartments
- Jefferson Elementary School
- South Middle School
- South Heights Elementary School
Residents should boil water for human consumption or cooking for at least 5 minutes. Unboiled water can be safely used for bathing.
Water officials say they expect the boil advisory to be lifted sometime Tuesday morning.
