EVANSVILLE, IN (WFIE) - An autopsy will be performed later this week on a body that was found early Monday.

Crews found the body near a river bottom on South Weinbach Avenue, just south of I-69. Evansville police and fire rescue crews were called to the scene.

Police say they used drones and ATV’s to find the body. The identity of the victim has not been confirmed and police have not yet said whether it’s a man or a woman, but no foul play is suspected.

Sgt. Cullum says on April 12, the the Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Office was called to the same area after a truck was found stuck in a muddy field. Police say they’re not sure yet if there is a connection.

The autopsy will be performed on Wednesday here in Evansville.

We will update this story with more information when it is made available.
