EVANSVILLE, IN (WFIE) - 20-year-old Elijah Parchman is facing multiple charges, including murder, after a shooting Friday night leaving one man dead and another injured.
Police say it happened in a parking lot in the 600 block of E. Virginia Street around 9:30 Friday night.
Police were called to the area after reports of shots fired.
According to the affidavit, when officers arrived they learned there were two shooting victims and they’d been taken to Deaconess Midtown Hospital.
Coroner Steve Lockyear confirms that 32-year-old Bobby Minor died at Deaconess Hospital in the ER. The other victim is 26-year-old Ikeem Minor and is expected to survive his injuries.
While investigating the shootings, Central Dispatch received a 911 call from Parchman identifying himself as the shooter. Police arrested him at his home without incident.
Authorities say they don’t believe the victims knew Parchman before Friday night. Police were told the men were outside in the 600 block of E. Virginia Street and there was a verbal dispute between the men.
Police say that during the dispute, Parchman fired a handgun several times, hitting the victims. There were other people present when the shooting began, but they were not injured.
Parchman was arrested for murder, attempted murder, criminal recklessness, and criminal recklessness with a deadly weapon.
He is currently being held at Vanderburgh County Jail with no bond.
