EVANSVILLE, IN (WFIE) - For half a century, Big Brothers Big Sisters of southwest Indiana has paired people to mentor children and leave a lasting impact on their lives.
The organization celebrated its 50th anniversary with a meet and greet with the starts of Frozen’s Disney on Ice.
The Ford Center hosted the production, kicking off Thursday evening, with more performances scheduled through the weekend.
The group of 100 included children from the Tri-State area that would otherwise not be able to attend the outing with their “Bigs.”
“Disney’s Frozen is a heart felt story of love between two sisters, which resonates with anyone who has a special relationship in their own life like Littles and Bigs with Big Brother Big Sister,” said Kayla McKenzie, director of marketing for Big Brothers Big Sisters.
“We were really excited to see the kids’ eyes light up when they got to meet Elsa and Anna today," McKenzie said. “You know, Disney is so magical and so inspirational, that everyone got to be a kid today,” she laughed.
Disney On Ice concludes its shows on Sunday, April 7 at the Ford Center.
