EVANSVILLE, IN (WFIE) - A trial date has been set for the Princeton police officer facing a misconduct charge.

Officer Brandt George was in court Thursday morning for his initial hearing following his arrest and subsequent release from jail on Monday.

At the hearing, a trial date was set for August 12.

Officer George is accused of allowing a suspect to toss a bag of heroin after his arrest.

He faces up to two and a half years in prison if convicted.
