EVANSVILLE, IN (WFIE) - The 2019-2020 FAFSA deadline is quickly approaching for Indiana students.
The deadline to submit your application is April 15.
Admissions Director for the University of Evansville, Kenton Hargis, says that submitting the FAFSA is vitally important for students who need financial help to go to college.
“Filing the FAFSA, getting those results back has been a critical factor for many many families through the years in being able to afford, not only a UE education but higher education in general. So it is a pivotal form and it’s made dreams come true for many many families," said Hargis.
According to Hargis, there are two major benefits for filing FAFSA.
The first is that FAFSA is instrumental in getting a comprehensive financial aid package from a college or university. The second is applying for loans. According Hargis, filing your FAFSA is the best way to have loans offered to you to help pay for your higher education.
Hargis says that everyone applying for college should submit their FAFSA even if it’s not complete by the deadline.
“For Indiana residents it is extremely important that those students send in their FAFSA by the April 15 deadline," said Hargis. "Even if you don’t have all of your specific tax information by that time, you can still go back after that deadline and revise the FAFSA information if you need to, but at least submit the form by the April 15th deadline.”
The Federal deadline for corrections is September 12.
