EVANSVILLE, IN (WFIE) - Central Bears Football Coach has resigned.

Troy Burgess, who led the Bears to the IHSAA State Championship game last season, has stepped down as head coach of Central football.

In a statement, Burgess said he has accepted a offer to coach at another school:

“I have resigned both teaching and coaching. I have been offered and accepted a job up North and it will be announced Monday, April 15."

In his only season at Central, Burgess helped the Bears get to the 4A title game where they came up short in an overtime thriller. He took over the head coaching position after Andy Owen stepped down.
