Southern IL schools are dealing with a teacher shortage

ILLINOIS (WFIE) - A new study found that 92 percent of schools in the southern part of the state have trouble filling open positions.

The Illinois Association of Regional Superintendents of Schools backed the study.

It notes young teachers are attracted to the Chicago area because of high pay.

The study also finds Central Illinois struggles with hiring teachers, but not as bad as the southern part of the state.
