OPD: Suspect fired several shots after victim confronted him

OWENSBORO, KY (WFIE) - A man is in jail after police say he fired a gun at someone in Owensboro.

Police say Wednesday night around 11:30 officers went to check out a shots-fired call in the 3400 block of Legacy Run.

The victim told officers he saw someone trying to break into his vehicle. When he confronted the suspect, the suspect pulled out a handgun and fired several times at the victim before running away.

No injuries were reported.

Police say they were able to identify 18-year-old Tyshawn Hawkins as the suspect. We’re told they found him in the area where the shooting happened and they also were able to recover a handgun.

Hawkins is facing several charges including fleeing and evading police, wanton endangerment and theft.
