UE grad earns another Golden Globe nomination

EVANSVILLE, IN (WFIE) - The Golden Globe nominations have been announced, and a graduate from the University of Evansville is on the list.

Rami Malek is nominated for Best Actor in a Motion Picture Drama for his work in Bohemian Rhapsody.

The film is nominated for Best Motion Picture Drama along with Black Panther, BlacKkKlansman, If Beale Streat Could Talk, and A Star Is Born.

Malek plays “Queen” lead singer Freddie Mercury in Bohemian Rhapsody.

The other actors nominated in Malek’s category are Bradley Cooper for A Star is Born, Willem Dafoe in At Eternity’s Gate, Lucas Hedges in Boy Erased, and John David Washington in BlacKkKlansman.

Malek is a 2003 UE grad and has appeared in several other movies and TV series.

He’s best known as the lead actor in the series Mr. Robot. He has received several award nominations for that work, including nominations for an Emmy and a Golden Globe.

Malek has also played roles in the Night at the Museum trilogy, and The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 2.
