OWENSBORO, KY (WFIE) - The Owensboro Riverport helped make the environment and local rivers cleaner on Thursday.

Living Lands and Water partnered with the Riverport to help unload over 400,000 pounds of trash from the river.

The company started working in August and most of the trash collected over the last four months will be recycled.

The trash unloaded on Thursday was collected from rivers all across the country.

Officials with Living Lands and Water say their next goal is to collect 1-million pounds of trash from the river over the next year.
