MT. VERNON, IN (WFIE) - Officials are calling it one of the biggest meth busts in Posey County.
Law enforcement and the Posey County Narcotics Unit raided a home at 1218 Mulberry Street in Mt. Vernon around 12:00 a.m. Wednesday morning.
Police arrested 32 year-old Crystal Goodman and 25 year-old Robert Kester. They face a list of charges including manufacturing meth and possession of meth, as well as possession of marijuana.
Law enforcement have been keeping an eye on the home for quite some time. When they finally got a chance to get inside, they were surprised by what they found.
"It doesn't get much better than taking out the source," said Kenneth Rose of the Posey County Narcotics Unit.
That's because law enforcement and the Posey County Narcotics Unit believe they uncovered a major supplier of meth for the county inside the two story home.
"We've done 600 labs in the 13 year period, and this is easily the 2nd or 3rd largest that I've seen," said Rose.
Crews had to let the home air out before beginning to empty all the meth making materials from it. It was so huge, two extra clean-up crews with Indiana State Police had to be called out.
Crews also removed what they say is a significant amount of marijuana.
"It's kind of shocking," said neighbor Brittany Bradley.
Bradley lives right across the street from where crews were handling dangerous chemicals.
"I was really worried this morning. It kind of scared me, but they said as long as we kept the door shut we should be ok," said Bradley.
Several dogs were also removed from the home.
Numerous agencies responded to this meth bust, including Indiana State Police, the Posey County Sheriff's Office, Mount Vernon City Police, Poseyville City Police and the Mount Vernon Fire Department
