Taking a Stand: Thank You

EVANSVILLE, IN (WFIE) - This has been an exhausting time for all of us.  We've weathered an ice and snow storm, power outages and school and business closings.

And then this week, a wind storm triggered a new round of problems.

Before anything else happens, we want to recognize the hard work and dedication of those who spent countless hours away from their own families to help us get our lives back on track.

The Red Cross deserves everyone's respect.  The organization set up shelters and recruited volunteers to check on those people who were home alone.

I'm sure the Red Cross and the other community shelters saved lives for those without power.

We can't forget the utility crews who worked 24/7 in frightful conditions to get our lights and heat back on.

And then there is the wonderful work of the emergency responders, firefighters, police, ambulance, road crews and dispatchers.

we saw neighbors helping neighbors; they didn't need anybody to tell them to open their homes and their hearts.

Let's all hope the worst of the winter is behind us.   If not, we know there are a lot of folks that have our backs.

From all of us, thank you!
