PENSACOLA, FL (NBC) - An Indiana financial manager who authorities accuse of trying to fake his own death in a plane crash is now behind bars.

Marcus Schrenker has been moved from a Tallahassee hospital to a county jail in Pensacola.

Authorities believe the 38-year-old intentionally crashed his plane last week, made a phony distress call, parachuted out of the plane and took off on a motorcycle.

He was later found at a Florida campground with a slashed wrist.

Schrenker is facing financial fraud charges.

A sheriff's office spokesman says Schrenker has been placed on special watch.
