During this holiday season as we look back at 2008...we believe there is so much to be thankful for. We are grateful for the fact that while there have been some jobs lost here; we are weathering the economic downturn better than many places.
We are grateful that we could see more jobs in 2009. In the Evansville area, we will buy supplies and hire builders for the new EVSC school building project. We're building a new Berry headquarters and now, it looks like a new stadium downtown.
In Owensboro, Unilever is expanding and adding new jobs. Owensboro Medical Health System is building and will soon add more workers.
Also in Owensboro, there is the $40 million revamping of the Riverfront. It will be a shot in the arm for the entire city and county as well as preserving the historic riverfront.
We are grateful for good schools and universities, both public and private in the Tri-State. Our schools consistently perform at or above the national average.
We are grateful for our low gas prices. And, that we've finally started the construction of I-69.
And, we are grateful, and humbled, for the overall giving spirit of the Tri-State. You were there when we needed help with the Salvation Army's Toy Town, the MDA Telethon and the Susan G. Komen's Race for the Cure, the United Way and so much more.
And finally, I'm grateful for the wonderful staff at 14WFIE, the clients that give us so much support and you the viewer, who makes this station number one in the tri-state.
