Taking a Stand: Shopping Supports Economy

By Vice-President/General Manager Debbie Bush

We're just days away from Christmas...and the shopping spree is on!

My family was in Evansville, Owensboro and Madisonville this weekend and the stores in all three towns were packed.  As we hear about all of the gloomy news nationally, it's encouraging seeing businesses busy in the Tri-state, and hopefully, doing well.

You may think of it as just Christmas shopping.  But that money spent is crucial to keeping our stores open...and jobs saved.

If you are still undecided on what to give your family, don't forget the big ticket items you may need such as furniture and automobiles.  As you see from the commercials on 14WFIE, the sales have never been better, and of course, financing is available.

I'm not saying you should spend irresponsibly, but your support will keep our economy moving and viable.  And, maybe we will continue to be better off than the cities you see in the national news.

Merry Christmas.  Happy Hanukkah.  And, enjoy this special time with your family.
