Cadiovascular & Thoractic Surgery

The patient experience for cardiovascular/thoracic surgery is seen as highly specialized, interdisciplinary and holistic. This experience begins with our preoperative preparation and is completed at discharge with a referral to our cardiac rehabilitation program. Our cardiothoracic surgeons are experts in all types of cardiac, vascular and thoracic/lung surgery including:

  • Coronary Artery Bypass Graft Surgery (CABG)
  • Off Pump Coronary Artery Bypass
  • Transmyocardial Revascularization (TMR) - Laser Revascularization
  • Surgical MAZE - A surgical technique designed to treat atrial fibrillation or
    irregular heart rhythm
  • Carotid Endarterectomy
  • Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm Repair - Endoscopic AAA & Open procedures
  • Lower Extremity Vascular Surgeries
  • Thoracotomy or Lung Surgery
  • Video Assisted Thoracoscopic Thoracic Surgery (VATS)

Clinical excellence is at the heart of what the cardiovascular team does. Key quality indicators for the cardiovascular and thoracic surgery patients are monitored and processes are in place to ensure the best outcomes for our patients. Initiatives include early extubation, tight glycemic control, monitored activity progression, pressure ulcer prevention, and implementation of a set of strategies called "bundles" to prevent post operative complications including a ventilator bundle and central line bundle.
