Taking a Stand: Komen Race for the Cure

Posted: Updated:

By Vice-President/General Manager Debbie Bush

I'd like to thank you for the wonderful success of the 11th annual Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure.  (Click here for the news story on the race.)

I may have seen you there on Sunday, September 21...there were more than 18-thousand of us at the Eastland Mall!  And, we set another record.  The Greater Evansville (Tri-State) race is now bigger than the Komen Race in Salt Lake City, Fort Worth and New York City!

To those who put on this spectacular event, including our own Ann Komis, and to those businesses that sponsor the race, congratulations on your hard work and success!  The event was moving, emotional and uplifting!

Thanks to the 18-thousand of you who ran, walked or just showed up to be part of a memorable Sunday morning.

And, to those of you wearing the pink shirts, you inspire me!

And finally, thanks to the Eastland Mall for being such a gracious host for the race since its inception.  Starting next year, the race moves back to Saturday and goes to Downtown Evansville!

No doubt, with your help, Race for the Cure will continue to grow.  Hopefully one day, we'll be celebrating a cure to breast cancer.
