EVANSVILLE, IN (WFIE) - A group of Girl Scouts got a lesson in water conservation Saturday.

It was part of the Girl Scout's Sail the Ocean Green event at Burdette Park. Several guests were there to help the girls explore the water cycle, water filtration and conservation of water supplies.

"It's important for everyone to preserve our natural resources," Suzanne Hunter, volunteer, said. "And what better way to start them out as kids in school that are learning about it anyway. We're just reinforcing it. Behavior we hope that will carry to future generations."

Some of the Girl Scouts also brought gently-used and old shoes for donation to Soles for Souls. Those go to needy children or used for recycling.
