Study: Drug works to fight cancer in mice

NATIONAL (AP) - Researchers say they've developed a vaccine that reduced HER2-positive tumors in mice without side effects.

HER2-positive breast cancer can be hard to treat because many patients develop a resistance to the traditional therapies used to treat it.

Scientists say the vaccine could be used to treat women with this aggressive form of cancer, help prevent a recurrence and could even be given to healthy women to prevent the development of these tumors.

More research is planned.
