Elliott, Painter productive in Purdue win

Vincennes Lincoln graduate Curtis Painter passed for 286 yards and two touchdowns  as Purdue defeated Northern Colorado Saturday at Ross-Ade Stadium, 42-10.

Desmond Tardy caught three passes for 112 yards and Kory Sheets ran for 81 yards and two touchdowns for 1-and-0 Purdue.

Junior Joey Elliott replaced Painter in the fourth quarter and ran for a two-yard touchdown to complete the scoring.  Elliott is an Evansville Harrison product.

With his effort, Sheets moved into sole possession of second place in school history in total touchdowns with 39.   Purdue coach Joe Tiller tied Jack Mollenkopf for the most wins in school history with 84.

Bryan Waggener passed for 216 yards and a touchdown and Ryan Chesla caught nine passes for 99 yards for Northern Colorado (0-1). Last season, the Football Championship Subdivision team went 1-11.

Purdue hosts Oregon next Saturday.
